Why Wireless Festival

This year the impressive line-up includes Jay Z, Morrissey, Fat Boy Slim and Counting Crows. Mark Ronson, Roisin Murphy and Hot Chip will also be performing alongside many, many more.

It’s all very well flying to Holland to see your favourite bands, or taking a ten hour bus ride to Scotland for T in the Park, but when you can catch some of the hottest acts in London, then there is little reason not to attend.

London, as we know, is a hot spot for up and coming talent, and a place where some of the most defining bands ever emerged from.

London crowds are always the most raucous, they love to have a good dance and they certainly know how to party. Merge a London crowd with a dazzling line-up of bands and you have got yourself a damn good festival. The only that we can’t guarantee is sunshine.

The Wireless Festival doesn’t come attached with any particular genre label. It is not mainly a Rock Festival or a Dance Festival; it simply showcases a string of great bands, old and new, that everyone can enjoy.

So, if you don’t want to leave the clutches of London, or of you fancy heading into the City for a few days, the Wireless Festival is THE reason to do so.

Top Wireless Moments.

Daft Punk, One More Time – 2007

1. Last year, Daft Punk led the crowd into a frenzied mass of jumping, arm waving, possessed animals, heaving and losing control to an absolute Daft Punk classic.

2. The Strokes, Reptillia – 2006

In 2006, The Strokes, who had accumulated a cult following by this point, performed Reptillia at O2 Wireless Festival. The crowd, jumping and screaming along to that alluring and oh-so-gravely-Strokes way, jumped for joy as Reptillia thumped its way in to the crowd.

3. The White Stripes, 2007 – Jolene.

Jolene is the kind of novelty song that always gets lashings of raucous applause, and this Wireless performance proved no exception.

Its best to access the festival by public transport, as parking in central London is very limited and expensive!

Wireless – Top 5 Must See Bands

Apart from the obvious and that includes both Morrissey and Jay Z, make some time to check these out as well.

Underworld
These electronic maestros made a huge impact in the nineties where hedonism, music and dance ruled supreme. What better way to party in Hyde Park on a summers Saturday eve. Born Slippy played live is a must see check out the youtube vid

Beck
A festival favourite, the multi instrumentalist that is Beck has provided us with some of the best party soundtracks of all time. It’s a bit quirky, a bit ‘dancy’ and it’s the perfect festival accompaniment.

Lightspeed Champion
The man behind the short-lived but ever popular indie crossover outfit Test Icicles has reappeared with his new venture, Lightspeed Champion. A band that leans heavily into country-folk with undertones of grunge-pop, it’s weird, but great.

Hot Chip
They blend indie and electro pop with some very dance-floor friendly remixes. The result is an irresistible urge to dance, you’ll see!

Saul Williams
Fancy a break from the music? Then make sure you catch Saul Williams, intelligent, political and more relevant than ever before, the writer, actor and musician is known for incorporating poetry and hip-hop.
